Electronic Chess Sets

When purchasing an electronic set, look at the rating. Avoid 1200 to 1600 sets.
Why, when a young adult, kid, or young child start to play against the set in the beginning they may lose. But after awhile the electronic set will not offer any challenge. Instead, go for the higher end sets 2000+ to 2200. There are even sets rated higher. Novag Ruby, and Sapphire are in the 2200+ category.
Excalibur sets: The Company (which replaced Fidelity) rates their sets lower than they actually are. Saitek manufactures very good sets and has higher end models.
A complete article on the subject was posted in Chessforums.org about three years ago. Chess House, and ChessUSA (a Long Island, NY) store is very helpful in choosing the type of electronic set for your needs.
