Chess Middlegame

The Chess middlegame is the part of the game right after the opening. Players will attempt to strengthen their position while trying to weaken their opponents position by careful arrangement of pieces for attack and defense, and by reducing their opponents numbers.

The middlegame may consist of three strategies, king safety, force and mobility, although not all of these factors are of equal importance. A player must have a positive, realistic plan because the initiative goes to the side that can devise one. At this stage, both players have finished developing their pieces. The middlegame is where the largest battles are waged between the two opponents.

Players have to realize the tactical possibilities and the strategic factors in order to make sensible decisions. Chess middlegame books will help you understand and implement middlegame technique.
